Possibly the best restaurant in Yellowknife. We stayed in the Explorer Hotel. The breakfast, lunch and dinner at Trader's Grill are amazing. Great service and super nice atmosphere. The central fire place is beautiful. Be warned, book your table ahead of time particularly on Friday and weekend. We didn't have a table as the Friday night was fully booked. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I’ve visited Trader’s Grill twice now, and while my first experience was genuinely impressive, the second one left me a bit disappointed. The inconsistency makes it hard to know what to expect. During my first visit, the restaurant was packed, and there was even a large group that slowed down service quite a bit. Despite the long wait, everything that came out of the kitchen was worth it, especially the Herbs & Garlic Encrusted Roasted Rack of Lamb - each bite was incredibly satisfying! The meat was perfectly prepared —juicy, tender, and full of flavor. It was the kind of meal that makes you wonder why the place doesn’t have better reviews. Because of that amazing first impression, I came back shortly after and ordered the same dishes, hoping for a repeat. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t match. The restaurant was still busy, but this time the food just wasn’t the same. The meat came out bland and noticeably overcooked, dry enough that it took away most of the enjoyment. It felt like a completely different kitchen was handling the meal. I really hope they can work on consistency, because when they’re good, they’re really good.
