Just one thing that bothered me was the dirty pillows that that was on the chair. Was so bad that it stained my wife's dress. The wind does not like that place very much, but overall the staff is humble and polite and the atmosphere is great. I loved the scarecrow. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

We were very disappointed with our experience at Thirsty Scarecrow upstairs function venue. We hosted an end of year function for our department where postgraduate students and lecturers attended. The organisation beforehand was smooth and we were attended to promptly. When we arrived to set up on the day, we realised that some things were not disclosed. Firstly, we had booked the venue specifically for the amazing view only to find out on the day that black roller shades will be put up to cancel out any noise, blocking the view. Secondly, some of the staff were rude. We had guest complaining to us. We were served out of red plastic cups when consuming alcohol, which was a bit embarrassing on our behalf to serve distinguished professors. But we received glasses when asking for water. The welcoming drinks were so sweet that most guests didn’t finish it. We were told before hand that music had to be turned down at 23:00. At 21:50 the music was turned down by the staff. It was so soft that guests were speaking louder and started to leave by 22:00. Lastly, we were told that we could use the fairy lights, only to find out on the night that it is R450 extra. After asking for it to be turned on 4 times. Overall, we would never use this venue again and were really disappointed with the service. The only positive we can point out is that the food was good. What you failed to mention in your review was that you brought live entertainment along to our establishment without notifying us. At no point in our site visit or further communications was live entertainment ever mentioned. This was only communicated 2h prior to your event. Our T&Cs specifically state no live music or Djs and music is to be played through our approved sound system. We tried our best to accommodate your request and by doing so we had to drop the blinds to contain the noise of your live entertainment and keep the noise to an acceptable level. This resulted in you being dissatisfied at the beginning of your event which seems to have put a damper on the whole event. It’s unfortunate as we always have positive feedback from our events. We apologize that we could not meet your expectations for the evening.More
