I’ve been a big fan of The Yeti for years. This place is bursting with character and attracts people of all walks of life. Their coffee is some of my favourite in town, and I am an absolute sucker for their cinnamon buns. It’s the perfect spot for a pre/post market shop, and the outside seating options during the warmer months are fantastic. All of this being said, I want to share recent experiences that I hope can be considered for quality improvement. I used to love going to The Yeti for brunch. The sauces on their sandwiches? Their thick cut bacon? Delicious! However, in the last year/year a half, I’ve noticed a real shift in quality. The thing is, I can tell they are investing in good quality ingredients. I’m not sure if there have been recent changes in kitchen staff, but it seems like the execution of the meals is the culprit. The bacon doesn’t have even the slightest hint of moisture, and halloumi cheese is shrivelled, cold, and lifeless. Sadly, for the price, I’m not getting the value I would hope for. I think with a little focus on refining the meal execution, The Yeti will be back as a top brunch contender. Until then, I’ll stick to the coffee and cinnamon buns. If I’m going to write the occasional review, I prefer to focus on rewarding businesses with positive ones due to their commendable customer service and quality of products However, every now and again I feel a social obligation to give the people a heads up on businesses I think they may want to avoid. I came into the Yeti Cafe today and asked about what kind of breakfast options they had, I was addressed by someone with the most neutral presence and with no smile or appealing energy. They handed me a menu and told me I could come back up to the counter after made my selection. It’s crazy because this pace is literally the smallest cafe I have ever been to, and apparently they can’t even come to your table to take your order, anyways I reluctantly returned to the counter and ordered “the Beckie”. I was actually asked to settle up right away at the counter before I even received my food which seemed strange to me. When I sat down, the table was dirty and clearly hadn’t been wiped clean since the last customer. Anyways, it came to $25.71 after tax, no tip included, and I believe it may have been the worst $25 I have ever spent on a breakfast as per the pics. For that price you think they could at least give you a third egg and bit more meat. When I asked how much it was for an extra egg, they said $3.00 for 2 eggs; so not only are they charging a $1.50/ egg but apparently force you to buy two lol. I definitely don’t recommend this place if you want any type of decent customer service, a clean table, or your food to be of decent value for your money.
