After seeing the tapestry/embroidery, we were looking to sit out in the sun and have "a bite". The Tapestry Garden was just across the street with lots of outdoor seating on a warm September afternoon. We shared a jambon et fromage baguette sandwich washed down with a petit pression -- lovely. The staff were reserved but pleasant with hellos and good byes for everyone. Casual, quick and tasty. A nice respite before heading on our way.

Basically, fast food in a lovely garden setting. We ordered Coque monsieur, which was a grilled ham and cheese sandwich with extra cheese melted on top. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table Unfortunately, the highly rated Creperie next store was not open on the day we were in Bayeux.

We had scoped out lunch venues the previous evening, as we'd planned to see the tapestry in the morning. This place got my vote as they surprisingly listed a 'BLT' on their posted menu! After our visit to the museum, we stopped in for lunch. They have a varied menu, and everyone in our group was able to find something of interest. The food was fresh and tasty. The only thing I'd say about my BLT is that apparently the French have a different definition of 'bacon' than the U.S. I'd characterize my sandwich more as a HLT (H = ham). It was still good. The dining area is an indoor space along one side (no used much on the sunny day we were there) and a large patio area with plentiful tree-shade. It was a nice place to take a short break from sight-seeing. I'd return for another meal if I were back in Bayeux.
