Not bad at all! Pleasantly surprised when we walked through the door - didn't know what to expect...but there's chandeliers and very nice decor! It's banquet material, I think! Lots of choices in the menu, and you can even do substitutions (but ask if there would be a surcharge). There wasn't bitter melon with beef, but they were willing to sub bitter melon with seasonal veg.. And they knew to use black bean in the dish. Also had a daikon and spare ribs casserole pot and sweet and sour pork - both very good. All came to $40 or so, with 3 bowls of rice. Soup and desert are complimentary. Highly recommend for a casual Cantonese meal...

This past weekend was my mom’s birthday, and, after much deliberation, we decided to go try a Chinese restaurant in Scarborough that we’ve passed by frequently for the last little while. Steam House is the sister restaurant to Steam Kitchen in Richmond Hill. The Chinese name for both of these restaurants is a play-on-words for something you say to wish someone success and growth for their business (much like how steam rises. Get it?). But don’t let the name fool you too much. The menu doesn’t have as many steamed dishes as the name implies. Instead, we’re looking at the usual fare of communal dishes with some neat ones (see below) here and there. The Scarborough location does offer your typical Hong Kong-style rice specials, ranging from $5.99-7.99 depending on what you get. We didn’t try any of those, but the prices are pretty standard so it is worth keeping in mind next time I want to get a quick bite while sitting mo

They got it right.. This place has many great points, I'm not going to start with the food, here are some of their great points, cleanliness, they got the lighting right, friendly staff, always consistent with the service and food, and yes the food is very good, and no they did not pay me to write this. I just thought its the least I can do to show my appreciation for a good establishment. I'll be going back again soon.
