I was poisoned by Terriyaki Glazed Salmon at Scala Kitchen + Cafe. I had one of the worst poisonings of my life! I vomited and had diarrhea for 3 whole days. I was in the ER and had an IV for 2 days at Louran Hospital, after the second IV I had an allergic reaction! Because of my poisoning, we had to postpone the day of departure to our country and buy tickets for new dates for 5 family members, also extend the hotel, rent a car, and order a transfer to the new airport in Cairo. We suffered great financial losses and my health was damaged - my vacation experience was ruined! And all this because of one lunch at this restaurant! Due to the fact that this unfortunate piece of fish was stored incorrectly, no one knows in what condition the kitchen is, as well as the level of cleanliness of the chef! The restaurant manager got in touch after many attempts to contact them on social networks, even wrote a response here to my review. But when I sent the restaurant manager a report from the hospital, he no longer contacted me or my husband. My ultrasound confirmed that I did not have cholecystitis or gastritis. Salmonella and typhoid fever have not been confirmed, but how many more of these BACTERIA that cause poisoning and are transmitted through semi-cooked fish?! Green diarrhea and vomit with the smell of salmon and Terriyaki sauce - instead of 1000 words! I couldn't achieve JUSTICE now!!! Therefore, I want to warn all potential visitors - be careful and know that if you, like me, get poisoned in this place, no one will want to answer for this situation! I strongly do not recommend this restaurant to tourists, foreign guests and other visitors! My country's embassy is aware and has provided me with the contacts of people at CPA Egypt, as well as the Ministry of Tourism. Apology from restaurant is not enough for me! Shame on the restaurant owner for treating a foreign customer this way after he was poisoned in his restaurant! Hello Elnena We hope you are doing better now. We responded to your first negative review (which you removed) and have been in contact several times. Your complaints were taken with the utmost seriousness and we have done the very best of our ability to rectify your situation following. You sent us your medical reports, which DO NOT state any food poisoning or even bacterial presence - just acute gastroenteritis, which we referred to doctors and were told it is a general term used for stomach flu or viruses and doesn't indicate food poisoning. Your tests also revealed presence of gallbladder stones. These two combined may have caused many of the symptoms you’ve experienced. We further requested you to send us the vomit samples lab test that you told us you were waiting for to prove that what happened was food poisoning, we received nothing since then. Not to mention, upon informing your embassy, official investigation visits happened immediately and samples were collected from our kitchen, and we received nothing to condemn us since then. We routinely have surprise checks from the health and safety departments and take every single measure to ensure our food is safe. Not to mention that the same dish you ordered was ordered many times on that day you visited and throughout the week with no issues reported. This is the first of such accusation actually since years of operation. It's also unjust to pay for your entire travel for you and your family as you demanded us to by phone, especially with no medical proof of you having food poisoning in the first place.
