I went to Saboten at Richmond Aberdeen and ordered the loin katsu don. The food itself was decent and what I expected from Saboten, but the service really ruined the experience. The cashier/server named Connie had a very bad attitude. When it was time to pay, she was being rude and made disrespectful gestures, which made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome as a customer. There was no reason for that kind of behavior, especially during a simple checkout. Good food, but the customer service seriously needs improvement. I hope management addresses this because it affects the overall experience. Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4 Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20

Tried the Loin Katsu Don and a side order of loin at Saboten Aberdeen..so good! The katsu side order was crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and the katsu sauce with sesame is perfect was just the right balance of sweet and savory. The Katsu Don is great but if you prefer a crispy Katsu maybe order a different meal as the sauce and egg is poured on top of the Katsu like other Japanese donburis. Portion was generous too, definitely satisfying. Got my order super fast.. perfect for a quick lunch that doesn’t feel rushed. Would totally go back when I’m craving comfort food with a crunch! We were very disappointed with the quality of the meat. The pork had an unpleasant odor and did not taste fresh at all. It did not meet our expectations.
