Je me suis rendu deux fois dans cet établissement très bien placé sur le port, malheureusement cette superbe situation est visiblement monté à la tête du patron qui se permet d'être odieux, insultant et menacent envers sa clientèle ! Passons sur le fait que c'est un restaurant attrape touristes, l'accueil y est déplorable, le service est digne d'une cantine sibérienne et la nourriture est congelé et en faible quantité. 68,50€ pour un antipasti, deux plats de pâtes et une bouteille de mauvais vin, vous avez intérêt à apprécier la vue ! Sans compter que souhaitant commander un verre de vin supplémentaire, jai été traité d'enfant qui ne savait pas tenir sa nana qui n'appréciait pas le vin local quelque peu piquant ! Ce merveilleux dîner s'est fini en esclandre car en ayant fait tomber mon verre le patron et le cuistot m'ont menacer de m'envoyer à l'hôpital: très chic comme comportement à l'égard des pauvres petits touristes qui payent très chère un dîner plus que médiocre ! Bref passer votre chemin, dans tous les autres établissements du port vous n'aurez pas à subir ce genre d'agressions.

Sunday lunch with a couple of friends. We go to the restaurant at 1pm asking if there was still a table for 4 available; some people were getting up and we were told to come over after a few dozen minutes - the time to set up -. My intention was to leave my name and telephone number but I was told not to worry because they would reserve the table for us. The dining room staff - with short memories - seats other guests and we find ourselves having to wait an hour outside the restaurant (waiting for an additional table to become free). Wow, how professional. Once you get used to tourists, everything is easier. We order some sparkling wine and 4 second courses to SHARE (with the relative saucers) After a long wait (perhaps justified by the long Sunday service), the dishes we requested arrive. What a disappointment Paying €22 for a mixed grill and being served 3 scampi and 3 2nd/3rd choice prawns and a 20 gram cuttlefish is pure madness. Livorno-style cod with a tomato so salty as to be semi-inedible, a side dish of sautéed escarole that borders on the ridiculous. €5 for two forkfuls of totally tasteless vegetables (a blasphemy for lovers of that dish). Sliced tuna (150 g max) left on the grill for an indefinite time: overcooked, fibrous and tasteless. The zucchini side dish paired with tuna was so salty that it required a loaf of bread to accompany it. €130 for 4 of us for getting up - after an hour of waiting - hungry and totally dissatisfied with the dishes served. We had a great time and a great meal at Ristorante Piropo. The chef, Alessandro di Roberto, a native of Porto Santo Stefano, is a master of the local cuisine, having wide family ties in the restaurants of the area and many years of experience developing his recipes. Piropo, we were told, is a Spanish term for a respectful compliment which a man might make to a woman, and this seemed appropriate to describe the emotion evoked by the food we enjoyed there. We made a lengthy time of our meal, with multiple antipasto dishes, primi and secondi courses, and all were excellent. We particularly liked the Ravioli with ricotta and just a small taste of bottarga, topped with pistachios and oil, the Gnocchi con Scampi and the Tortino avocado. We had a small sea bass, extremely fresh and prepared to our liking, as well, which was excellent. All was accompanied by excellent wine from the modestly priced list, with multiple local selections from the Maremma, and other wines from a broader area.
