The Paderborner Potatoes is a bit hidden in a fairly central location on Königsplatz in the middle of downtown Paderborn. However, once you find your way to the restaurant, you will find a very clean place to stay. The interior design is largely self-made and the attention to detail is clearly visible in the little things. There are a few places to sit so you can eat your tuber on site. The selection of potato variations is quite small and for me a welcome change from the usual overload. It's better to have a smaller selection and fresh food instead of frozen food. The potatoes are cooked in an oven specially designed for baking potatoes. The guest can then choose whether they like their tuber with or without cheese. This is melted again in the oven. The potaoe is then topped with a mixture of fresh ingredients (a few variations are available) and garnished with homemade sauce. A salad garnish is also available. The portion is sufficiently large. Unfortunately, when I visited yesterday there was no room left for dessert, which was also available. But I'd love to come back and try it out again. The price-performance ratio is really reasonable when you take into account the portion size and the definitely high rent for a city center restaurant. So thumbs up from me there too. The restaurant is owner-managed and the owner usually does all the work alone. This fact, and because everything is freshly prepared, can mean that it may take a while for the food to reach the guest. However, this is offset by the extremely nice owner with good conversations. If you want to eat something quickly during your lunch break, it's best to order in advance. This way the potatoes are fully cooked when you arrive. Final conclusion: I would like to come back and try out other variations of the menu. Anyone who likes potatoes and is willing to try new flavors should check it out. Parking: The underground car park in the city center is quite large but, as usual for a city center, it is also expensive. I recommend traveling by public transport. If you get off at the Westerntor stop, the restaurant can be reached on foot in about 5 minutes.
