Four of us booked L'Ortone for a Valentine's Day dinner. This was the fourth visit to this restaurant for my wife and I. Although all of the food and wine was exceptional as usual (duck, braised beef cheek, wild boar tagliatelle), the service was surprisingly poor. We had a feeling that things were not going to go well when our server first arrived and asked us "Are you ready to order?" When we responded "No," he abruptly turned around and walked away before we could get out "but we would like to order some wine". He later returned and explained that he had left because he had heard a bell from the kitchen and had to respond to it. During the rest of the evening, our server's behaviour did not improve. I found it surprising that a place with such high quality food could have such mediocre service. This is the second time the service at L'Ortone has been disappointing. We are now beginning to question whether or not the exemplary food is worth chancing what seems to be hit and miss service. Food: 5 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €60–70
