Food here was pretty decent. I got the Caesar Salad with prawns and received a decent portion. Flavours paired well together, and the prawns were deliciously buttery. The restaurant itself was a bit hard to locate at first. We walked past it 3 times, thinking that a museum had a neat restaurant, but not realizing that it was the restaurant we were looking for. What brings the rating down is the service. Our waiter was really abrupt and short with us. Perhaps because of a language barrier, but he always seemed to be in a rush to get away from us. We tried to find him to pay for our bill, but tried to repeatedly get his attention, but he didn't notice us. Overall, if I was in the area, would return. But be mindful of the service!

Probably the worst experience in food and service I had with in the last 10 years. Which accounts for approximately 1500 restaurant visits - That is an accomplishment by itself. Here it goes: Last Friday I dined with a friend in the upper area. The waiter was beyond unfriendly. Could not answer in a professional way a question about a dish, in fact he got kind of upset why I askrd him about the leek-potato cannelloni. He never offered the pepper mill or ever asked us if we are satisfied with the food. Worse, he got really nasty when my friend said the food is sub standard. We didn't ask for replacements because we figured out when 2 dishes from 20 dishes on the menu are so awful, what are the chances the replacements are any better, besides the waiters attitude was so bad that we tried to limit the interactions with him. If we both wouldn't have been so hungry and had only this one evening to catch up after many years, we would just have stood up and left. At the end, the waiter talked to the boss and they wanted to give us the drinks for free, but no word of apology. Probably just to prevent a bad review. Earlier in the evening I was sitting in the lower cafe section and had a tea and mineral water - it was fine and that waiter was very polite and friendly and professional. Still, the experience in the dining section was so bad that I can't give more than one star.

The only good thing about the Literaturhaus is the venue itself. The service was slow distracted and mistake-prone, the food was utterly average and way too expensive for what you actually get. Cannot recommend.
