We had a few nice lunches/dinners in Lemon Garden during our last two stays in Makarska, but today was our last meal there. You can always forgive a simple mistake or two, but when restaurant is directly disrespectful to you and makes you feel stupid and insignificant, then you gotta draw a line. My wife and I had pasta for dinner, my choice was Tagliatelle with shrimps & clams — very tasty dish, but right after my first bite I stumbled upon a piece of broken clam. OK, I tought, one slip, I am on my vacation, it's no big deal. Then I took another bite, once again, even smaller piece of broken clam. Again and again, it felt like a struggle, I even hurt my tooth with one piece — terrible! I called for the waiter, he took my plate, said he's sorry, offered something sweet as recoupment — I said no, I really wanted my pasta, but what can you do, it's a bummer. I tried so hard to leave my positive attitude, I really hoped for the cook (I don't want to say chef) to come out and says his apologies, we could resolve this issue in a healthy way. However, the biggest issue came just a few minutes after — that same waiter came to tell me that the cook said that clams are too thick and it is impossible to break them, so it must be my way of eating! Imagine my shock, I asked in wonder "so the cook says it's my fault then for broken clams in my meal, I must have used a shovel, or I am simply a HULK" — imagine the nerve! Telling a customer that he is guilty for having a terrible meal, the customer is incapable of eating, he is a savage for braking the unbreakable clams! Unbelievable! I kept my cool, told the waiter these thoughts you just read, he laughed as he is very young and inexperienced and that was it — the bill came, it was full priced, we paid and left, erasing Lemon Garden from our places we would love to visit again. Shame. To have a bad meal is one thing, but to disrespect your customer like that — that's a whole another level of bad business, shameful really, this is a type of thing that can close a rerstaurant, but when you are in Balkans, you gotta think you are lucky the cook didn't came out of the kitchen swinging his knife at you for being a pain-in-the-ass customer, wanting your food done well and clean, who do you think you are?! I hope they are happy that they have such an experienced and bad-ass cook, what a cool and powerful guy, he told us for sure! Guys, if you still decide to try the food, please learn how to eat before you order at Lemon Garden! :)
