I have been to tons of restaurants in Rovinj over the last 15 years and I am so disappointed that I only just discovered La Vela Gostionica. It is, by far, the nicest, friendliest, and most DELICIOUS restaurant I’ve had in Rovinj. We were a group of 6 people and each got different dishes. Our first unexpected treat was when our waiter, Sebastian, brought us fresh hot bread directly from the oven. It was so delicious and was served with two different kinds of virgin olive oil. One was from the regional area of Istria and the other was from Rovinj.. The salads were fresh and tasty. My pizza was incredible! I got the Slavonska pizza, spicy salami, ham, onions, and spicy peppers. The crust was perfect, the tomato sauce was perfect, and it was covered with yummy melted mozzarella. My husband got the beef goulash with homemade gnocchi., one Friend got pesto with fresh shrimp, (she said it was amazing) another got homemade pasta with truffles, one pasta with spinach and mushrooms, and the last one also got pizza. We were all very pleased with our meals. The service was extraordinary, was a very friendly family owned restaurant that has been in business in Rovinj for over 20 years. We got a special treat of rakija on the house. Five stars all around.
