Das Notstain in Amberg stands out for its prime location right by the Vils River and next to the cathedral, offering an impressive view and a charming atmosphere. The outdoor seating is well-arranged and inviting, but the culinary experience did not fully meet our expectations. Although the restaurant focuses on vegetarian and vegan cuisine, which suggests bold and exciting flavors, not all dishes lived up to this promise. The eggplant tartare, while nicely presented, was rather bland. The salads were generous in size but not particularly memorable. The seasonal soup was the highlight – tasty and well-seasoned – while the currywurst was nothing special. The biggest disappointment, however, was the service. We waited for our food for over an hour because the waitress forgot to pass our order to the kitchen, and there was no apology or explanation afterwards. Overall, Das Notstain is worth visiting for its beautiful location and concept, but the flavors and service need more attention to truly impress. Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 5
