Rude waitress/hostess. On December 23, 2019, my 84-year-old dad and I (for the second time) went to the Daniel restaurant for lunch. We enter and the place is half full and strangely, I notice that they eat pizza or a fairly "elaborate" second course. We enter and my dad "dares" to make a joke to the waitress "My daughter is hungry" and goes towards her and she makes us "seat" at the back of the room (I had already noticed a grimace of annoyance... well... but we don't I pay attention and move on). We sit down and ask for the menu of the day. She replies that today the menu of the day is not there, but it is only à la carte... then I ask why given that the menu of the day is always there and that we had already been there just for that and that there is it's also the sign outside... She explains to us that during the holidays they decided that they wouldn't do the menu of the day and that there is only: either à la carte, with obviously higher prices, or the "menu of the day" but reduced that it was: pasta with tomato sauce and steak with fried potatoes or vegetables.... When I tell her "It's a shame though" and I try to smile at her even if reluctantly. Here she, trying to keep herself from I don't know what anger, starts with a story saying that they chose like this, because people don't ask for the menu of the day during the holidays and that they DO NOT have working-class customers who ask for the fixed menu because, under holidays, they don't work. So I turn towards 2 workers who were eating behind us and point them out to them as if to say...and these? And she said, "Yes, but these people are eating à la carte"! and I believe you.. the menu of the day was NOT there! When I point out to her that she was rude and even my dad tries to intervene but she coldly tells him "I'm giving an answer to the lady"! from the series: old man mind your own business! At this point it was better to leave (there are plenty of trattorias) but, a little dazed and incredulous, we stay and decide to eat a pizza. When the waitress comes back to order I point out to her, in due manner, that she was very rude to me and to my 80-year-old father and that she will never see us again. And she: "Well, it's no problem for me you know!" and he doesn't even apologize!... Strange that, in these times, the landlady / waitress is NOT hot or cold losing 2 customers, so goodbye trattoria since my money is as good as everyone else's I prefer to go where at least they treat me well.
