Bonne continuation !

I was invited to the afternoon tea with 6 friends and honestly, this was an absolute joke, I seriously would not recommend it. You could go basically anywhere else in Calgary and get better tea and food while still paying under half the price we paid for 6 people (+$60 per person.) Astonishingly, the most upsetting thing about this whole experience was the tea. It was extremely diluted and weak because each pot, with enough water for six cups, used only a single bag. Specifically, one of the teas we ordered was the Dry Desert Lime tea, which was the brand Numi, and you are supposed to use one bag of tea for a single cup, not one bag for six cups. (By the way, you can get a box of this exact flavour and brand that has 18 tea bags from Walmart for $9.) For a high-end afternoon tea experience, I would think loose tea would be the standard honestly, not diluted cheap tea you could get at any grocery store. This seems pretty absurd, I mean the tea they were using is not expensive. For $60 per person, I expected so much more, this is embarrassing. Moving on, the food wasn't very good either. Typically you would expect small portions to be made up for in quality and flavour. Regardless, the sandwiches were dry, gross tasting, and didn't seem very fresh. The macarons were okay, but the majority of macarons I've had before this have been much better. And the small croissants, keep in mind they only gave us half a croissant each, were not good. To get a little technical, because I've actually baked croissants from scratch, the insides had very few layers, large air pockets, and were extremely dense–rather than many light flaky layers. This is probably because the butter melted into the dough during lamentation and/or proofing, making a heavy and overly buttery croissant with very few holes (very few crumb cells for those in the know). I seriously can not comprehend where our $60 each was going between this and the tea. In terms of the service, our server was somewhat rude and awkward, I got the impression he was irritated. Worst of all, was that they turned off the music at 2 pm, an hour before they closed, at 3 pm. I've worked as a server so I understand the temptation, but it's not like it was super late at night, and they did this an hour before close. Honestly, I find it pretty hilarious, but man $60 per person. Wow. Somethings you can never get back. In terms of the ambiance, they did have real china sets that were kinda cute, so I will give it that. But there are so many other things I could nitpick that create a cheap feel–such as the fall-themed dollar store paper napkins and the tacky decorations in a bed of white pillow stuffing lining the windows. The music was nice I guess, but they turned that off. It seems necessary to also mention that of the 6 of us, one did not show. As we did make a reservation, we were ok too (and did) still pay for 6 people. But man, to my friend who paid $120 (but really $140) because it was her sister who was supposed to come, I am SO SO sorry. This is the first review I've ever written but seeing the 4.5-star rating and countless good reviews, I felt compelled to share. I understand we could have complained, but honestly, I've never sent back food in my life (maybe someday I'll get there.) Some of my friends still even tipped (though there was definitely an 18% gratuity already built-in,) and this was not because it was good, we had all agreed we made a dreadful mistake, but because of that all too common irrational sense of obligation and fear of being rude–something I've often felt. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: CA$60–70

Your review is a joke, not our cafe. Seems like you spent a lot of time trying to find the words to bash a business online. Even creating a fake account. …Your review is a joke, not our cafe. Seems like you spent a lot of time trying to find the words to bash a business online. Even creating a fake account. 1. You could have voiced your concerns at our cafe, im sure we would have rectified any of these issues then, out of 5 people, no-one could speak up on a such a "bad experience"? 2. Nobody asked for decor tips - don't like it, don't come back. 2. You mentioned $60 dollars over 5 times, meaning you're more bothered about the dollar amount than anything else. Next time, we do encourage you to donate money to charity, so you're more fulfilled. 3. Music wasn't turned off, we were having issues with our speakers communicating throughout the cafe. 4. After being 30 minutes late, your group sat there for over 90 minutes, which is the time limit on our bookings. Meaning you were definitely enjoying the experience. So, even though we would apologize for any inconvenience, this isn't the time - its a shame that people try to bash businesses online, fabricating lies because they are hateful and cheap. Best of luck! More
