Unfortunately, one of the weaknesses of many kosher meat restaurants is the quality of the meat. But in this case at Black Iron the quality of the meat is completely their strength! The quality of the meat is really really excellent. Each piece was served with excellent workmanship and literally a bite was a pleasure. I would slightly improve the service and the availability of the waiters, they are nice but it took a while to get a waiter when we needed something. All in all a good experience and this is absolutely the place for lovers of fine meat! This is suppose to be a "high end" restaurant. Meaning you only get the meat it does not come with a side of anything. You have to pay for a salad or anything else. It was very good. However, there are other places that are just as good and not pretentious. Again really good meat but there r many other places that a good gives you more for your money and with ambience. I think if you had to choose between black iron and lechem besar, go with lechem basar in 1st station.Again meat was good but not worth it.

Took my wife for her birthday dinner after reading the Jerusalem Post article about the Black Iron restaurant. I'm from Kansas City and grew up working in my Dad's Meat Market. Kansas City is known for having some of the best Steakhouses and Barbeque in the United States. Being a pilot, I used to eat my lunch at Jess and Jim's (check the reviews in the New York Times). Took dates to the Black Angus, and Ralph Gains' Colony Steakhouse to impress them. I came with VERY high expectations. The only thing I can say is: they didn't just meet my expectations - they blew the lid off!, and EXCEEDED them far beyond my wildest dreams! the caramelized onions on the bone and marrow was excellent. The chunky potatoes were perfect. My wife's Beef Bourgeon (don't hold me to the spelling) was one of the best dishes that I have ever tasted! O' Lordy, GET THE SIRLOIN! My beer was ice cold, just like I like it. And, as we were sitting schmoozing and telling each other how much we liked our dinner, BOOM! They bring in the parve soft serve vanilla ice cream! It was every bit as good as the Dairy Queen ice cream that I ate years ago as a child and teenager! Better in fact! It was in a bed of tiny chocolate 'confetti'? some very small thin sliced baked roll like pastry with chocolate (I can't explain it) and, I think, a small amount of caramel dabbed on the top of the ice cream. I have to say, this was one of the best meals I have had in the last 30-40 years! And THAT is saying a lot!
