It's when the going gets tough that the tough get going! This could be the phrase of the year from the owner of Baita Pineta! I had booked for a typical dinner in a cabin with a ride on the snowcat. Simple right? But no! The snowy days heralded beautiful snow for climbing. Nice is not it? But no! Once we arrived near the car park where our cat was waiting for us, a line of cars absolutely not equipped for snow wanted to go up at walking pace on snow packed with ice and mud! We too had to stop in line and then have our path blocked by other stuck cars. What do I do? I give up? Never! I called the cabin and a super kind girl explained to us what was happening (the pick-up from the cabin next door had blocked the passage and the firefighters and police had to arrive) she reassured us and explained how to behave, where to go to wait and that the cat driver would soon come to pick us up in his car. He regularly called us back to update us on the state of affairs. The cat owner arrived and in a confident and friendly manner took us up with the famous cat! Then when you go to the front it's even more fun! As soon as we arrived they welcomed us warmly, made us sit down and made us feel at home until the end. We tasted the pine forest platter, the excellent potato pancake, the famous grilled ribs (to be specified grilled because they are nice crunchies, not lacquered, and I must say they are much tastier and healthier) the polenta with roe deer, good. Beer galore! A family-run restaurant where the lady is in the kitchen, and you can feel it, and in the dining room there are grandchildren to help you out for the evening! In short, an evening that could have been ruined due to behavior that blocked an entire mountain is the memory of a holiday experience! Thank you guys! Highly recommended!!!
